Installation of Gdk Pixbuf
Install Gdk Pixbuf by running the
following commands:
./configure --prefix=/usr --with-x11 &&
make
To test the results, issue: make
check. The tests make a heavy use of disk.
Now, as the root
user:
make install
Note
If you installed the package on to your system using a
“DESTDIR” method, an
important file was not installed and should be copied and/or
generated. Generate it using the following command as the
root
user:
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache
Command Explanations
--with-x11
: This switch
enables building of the Gdk Pixbuf
X11 library which is needed for
many packages.
--with-libjasper
: If you've installed
JasPer-1.900.1 and you want Gdk Pixbuf to use it to compile a JPEG2000
image loader, pass this switch to configure.
--enable-gtk-doc
: Use this parameter if
GTK-Doc is installed and you wish
to rebuild and install the API documentation.

images, used for compiling images directly into programs.

is a tool used to convert GdkPixbuf to GdkPixdata.

collects information about loadable modules for
Gdk Pixbuf and writes it
to the default cache file location, or to stdout.

libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so
|
contains functions used to load and render images.
|
libgdk_pixbuf_xlib-2.0.so

contains functions used to manipulate images and
interfaces with Xlib.
